ABOUT ME

My Story...

My name is Jeff Ropati, and I'm Samoan/Kiwi. I was born in New Zealand and grew up in Samoa meaning I am blessed with being bilingual in both languages! I have been training for 10+ years, in and out of the gym and all sorts of sports. My love for fitness really kick started when I was younger with rugby being my main strength. Despite being naturally gifted in sport and loving it, I was going through my own challenges throughout my teen years and fell into bad habits, steering me away from all the good and into destruction.

My upbringing wasn’t the best. Parents separated, moving back and forth from Samoa to New Zealand and constantly changing schools. My parents were never around, and by the time my dad started trying to be there for me, it was too late. I had already found comfort in a negative lifestyle. For a long time, my life was controlled by all the negative things - gang life, Partying, drinking, drugs, and every other distraction you could imagine. I felt like I was in a constant cycle that kept dragging me down mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically. I kept finding myself in unhealthy situations and was lost. I was homeless for 3 years, trying to find a place to call home, but it was all too toxic. I slowly found myself enjoying the gym. It was a distraction for me, and I loved how it made me feel - But it wasn’t enough. I still found time for the distractions, and it was taking over my life. I enjoyed fighting. I would take out my love of fighting in the streets for over 6 years. In 2022, I knew something had to change. My son was about to be born, and I didn’t want to continue the negative cycle I had thrown myself into. I finally vowed to quit drinking and change my life. I decided to put my love for fighting into something positive. I trained in kickboxing and had my first Muay Thai fight in 2023, the first year of being sober. Training in various sports has helped me develop skills in areas I never even thought of. Flexibility, stamina, strength, endurance, weight loss - All skills I never dreamed of acquiring. Branching out into spaces that made me feel uncomfortable was helping me unlock new expertise and I fell in love with expanding my knowledge. That first year of sobriety really kick-started my passion for training and helping others reach their goal, so I decided to finally pursue my personal training dream and get my qualifications. Helping people feel more confident in their skin, sharing my knowledge, and seeing people happy have been my favourite part of being a personal trainer.

Throughout my time as a personal trainer, I have worked with females and males between the ages of 17 - 68. All my clients come from a wide range of backgrounds, with some being fitness lovers, to some who had never touched a weight before! Some of the areas I have helped previous clients with include: Fat loss, weight management, body recomposition, strength gain, weight gain, correcting form and technique, injury recovery, athletic performance, general health and fitness, confidence, enhancing flexibility and mobility and diet planning/nutritional advice.

My main purpose is to help others, and I hope you, too, take the first step in your fitness journey alongside me. Let me help you be the happiest, healthiest, most hard-working version of yourself!

- Your coach, Jeff Ropati
